Nelsons Welcomes Moody & Woolley Clients

We are delighted to announce that on Friday 10th April 2015, Nelsons acquired Derby-based law firm Moody & Woolley.

Our message to all Moody & Woolley clients (current or past) is that you can still access all of the same services now they are part of Nelsons and that we aim to build on the reputations of both firms for high quality legal services, coupled with excellent client care.

Senior Partner Julie Marson and equity partner Ian Griffiths, who are retiring from Moody & Woolley, will remain as consultants during the transition.

Moody & Woolley’s current clients have been informed of the acquisition by Julie and Ian and all archived wills and deeds will be transferred to Nelsons for safe-keeping with notification letters being sent in the coming weeks. Nelsons’ chief executive Tim Hastings said: “We are delighted to unite with Moody & Woolley, a move which is part of our continued strategy to grow our business by acquisition.  Moody and Woolley is a Derby firm which has a long history and a great reputation. It is an owner managed firm with a broad client base and we felt it was just the right practice for us to join forces with.”

Julie Marson said: “We have been in negotiations with Nelsons for more than six months. Their private client approach was really impressive and fitted well with our own services. We also felt that Nelsons had the same outlook when it came to personal service to clients – something we take pride in at Moody & Woolley.

“With this consolidated approach with Nelsons, we can together offer extended services to our existing clients.

“I would like to thank our clients for their loyalty over the years. The Moody & Woolley team will still be here and will put the Moody & Woolley touch on Nelsons, as Nelsons put their touch on Moody & Woolley.”

The Moody & Woolley staff will continue to be based at their offices on St Mary’s Gate in Derby until further notice, so existing contact details (telephone, postal and email addresses) remain unchanged for the time being.
