Our Nottingham clinical negligence team has stepped up its support for nominated charity, Forever Stars, through a series of community-focused initiatives.

As well as a recent garden volunteering day and an upcoming charity skydive, the team has also provided invaluable legal insight through the Forever Stars podcast ‘Moving Forward, Not Moving On’.

Forever Stars provides vital support for families affected by baby loss. Central to their mission is the Serenity Garden at Highfields Park – a peaceful, reflective space designed for parents and loved ones to remember their babies and find comfort in nature.

On Saturday 14 March, a team from a number of departments at the Nottingham office grabbed their gardening gloves to spend a day volunteering, tidying up flower beds, maintaining pathways and planting fresh spring blooms.

Associate, Shrdha Kapoor, said:

“The Serenity Garden is such a special place for the Nottingham community and we all enjoyed spending a day in the sunshine, ensuring the space remains a beautiful and welcoming sanctuary for families who need it. While our day-to-day work is rooted in supporting families with legal processes, we understand this is often happening alongside extreme grief and can bring up many difficult emotions. Organisations like Forever Stars are vital to offering safe spaces for bereaved families to talk and not feel alone, so we are proud to spend our time supporting initiatives like this.”

Beyond this activity, the newest episode on the Forever Stars podcast, hosted by radio presenter Mark Dennison, was released this week, featuring Shrdha and Legal Director, Carolle White. The episode explores the legal process and professional support that is available to families who may be considering a clinical negligence claim.

Carolle said:

“We were honoured to be asked onto the podcast, and it was great to speak with Mark about what a claim can look like and help remove any concerns that people may have. With the ongoing Ockenden maternity review in Nottingham, we have seen an increase in enquiries, and we just want to try to give as much support to families as we can through any means possible. Forever Stars is a fantastic charity, and being so closely linked to our work, it felt like the right fit to be able to collaborate.”

Fundraising efforts are set to reach new heights in April, as both Carolle and Shrdha have signed up for a charity tandem skydive on April 18, where they will both be jumping from 14,000 feet above Nottinghamshire. So far, they have raised an impressive £1100 of their £1600 target for Forever Stars.

Closer to the ground, the firm is currently supporting the charity’s Easter egg collection for their annual hunt over Easter weekend.

Richard Daniels, Chair of Forever Stars, said:

“The Serenity Garden is a vital sanctuary for families in Nottingham, and maintaining it as a place of comfort is only possible with the hands-on energy of partners like Nelsons. Their team’s recent volunteering day made a tangible difference to the garden, but their support doesn’t stop there.

“From Carolle and Shrdha sharing their expertise on our podcast to their upcoming charity skydive and the team’s wonderful help with our Easter campaign, Nelsons truly embodies what it means to be a community-focused partner. We are incredibly grateful for their passion and commitment to supporting families through the journey of baby loss.”
