Highly experienced commercial solicitor – Cathy Clark – has joined Nelsons to support the growth of our specialist Commerce and Technology team.
Cathy, who has been appointed as a Legal Director, brings more than two decades of experience to our team.
Cathy’s career began at Freeths, qualifying as a solicitor in 2010, and before this, she was also a Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives. From 2014, Cathy transitioned to in-house roles, acting as legal counsel for a range of businesses, including seven years with Equifax, giving her a unique perspective of internal business conduct. In her 25 years of practising experience, her insight has enabled her to understand how businesses approach their legal contracting, revenue recognition, and risk management.
She said:
“Having been born and raised in Nottingham, and starting my career here, I have always known about Nelsons and its excellent reputation. Following the last decade working for in-house teams, I felt now was the right time to come back to private practice and Nelsons was a clear stand out for me. Not only from a professional view, but also from a cultural perspective, it was clear this was a firm I wanted to be part of.
“Much of my experience has come from a software and data background, therefore one of the areas that I will be focusing on is data protection and GDPR. I am looking forward to working with an already brilliant team to develop these services, in addition to supporting both new and existing clients when they need advice on these issues.”
Emma Toes, Partner in our Commerce and Technology team, said:
“We’re delighted to welcome Cathy to the team. Her legal expertise and commitment to delivering exceptional client service align perfectly with Nelsons’ values. Cathy brings a wealth of experience that will strengthen our offering and support our continued growth. We’re excited about the contribution she will make to both our clients and our wider team.”
At Nelsons, we provide essential legal support and pragmatic advice to help businesses navigate commercial contracts and agreements. The team can offer specialist support on a wide variety of commercial contracts, such as IT contracts (including SaaS, cloud computing, and software development), intellectual property (IP), agency and distribution, and franchising.
