What Is a No Win No Fee Agreement?
A Conditional Fee Agreement (CFA), commonly known as no win no fee, means that if your claim is unsuccessful, you pay nothing to us. There are no upfront costs and no financial risk to you.
If your claim succeeds, we charge a success fee, agreed with you in advance, which is deducted from your compensation. We will also advise you on After the Event (ATE) insurance, which protects you against the other side’s costs if your claim does not succeed. We handle the financial risk so you can focus on your recovery.
Serious & Catastrophic Injury Claims We Handle
Our no win no fee solicitors specialise in the most serious, life-changing injury cases, those that require experienced, well-resourced legal teams and access to leading medical experts.
Personal Injury Claims
Brain & Head Injuries
Brain injuries, whether caused by a road traffic accident, a fall, a workplace incident, or assault, can alter personality, cognition, and independence for life. Our brain injury solicitors work with leading neurologists and neuropsychologists to build claims that reflect the full, long-term impact on you and your family. We can also put the rehabilitation in place which may not be available to you on the NHS.
Spinal Injuries
Spinal cord injuries resulting from serious accidents can cause partial or complete paralysis. Our spinal injury solicitors have extensive experience in securing the substantial, long-term compensation these cases demand, covering care, rehabilitation, and home adaptations.
Accidents at work
Catastrophic accidents at work, industrial machinery incidents, falls from height, crushing injuries, can end careers and require lifelong care. Our no win no fee solicitors pursue employers and their insurers for compensation that reflects what you have truly lost.
Road Traffic Accident Injuries
Not all road traffic accident claims are straightforward. Where collisions cause multiple serious injuries, long-term disability, or the need for ongoing care, you need solicitors with the resources and track record to pursue the full value of your claim.
Product Liability
When a defective product causes serious injury, we pursue compensation from manufacturers, suppliers, and retailers. This includes faulty medical devices, dangerous consumer goods, and pharmaceutical products where risks were not properly disclosed.
Animal Attacks
Dog bites and attacks by other animals can cause serious physical injuries and lasting psychological trauma. We pursue compensation from animal owners and their insurers, handling cases involving dangerous dogs, livestock accidents, and attacks in public spaces.
Serious Burns & Scalding Injuries
Severe burns require extensive treatment, reconstructive surgery, and long-term psychological support. We handle burn injury claims arising from workplace accidents, faulty products, chemical exposure, and electrical incidents.
Food Poisoning
When contaminated food or poor hygiene practices cause serious illness, we pursue compensation from restaurants, food manufacturers, hotels, and retailers. We handle cases involving Salmonella, E. coli, norovirus, and other foodborne illnesses that result in hospitalisation or ongoing health problems.
Holiday & Travel Accidents
Accidents and illness abroad can have serious and lasting consequences. We handle holiday injury claims involving accidents at hotels, food poisoning, defective accommodation, and inadequate safety measures.
Sports Injuries
When sports injuries result from negligent organisation, inadequate safety measures, or equipment failure, we pursue compensation from clubs, venues, and equipment manufacturers.
Amputation Claims
Losing a limb through a traumatic accident is devastating. Compensation needs to account for prosthetics, ongoing rehabilitation, home adaptations, and the profound impact on your quality of life. Our amputation solicitors understand every dimension of these claims.
Cosmetic Surgery Negligence
We handle cases involving botched cosmetic procedures, surgical complications, and inadequate informed consent, pursuing claims against unregulated practitioners.

Case Study
Here from some clients that we have helped.
Workplace accident – catastrophic amputation injuries
After a life-changing accident involving industrial machinery, we supported a client with a claim against his employer for catastrophic amputation injuries and significant psychological trauma. We secured early access to defendant-funded rehabilitation, including specialist prosthetics, 24/7 care, adapted accommodation and ongoing psychological support.
The claim settled for £5.75 million, ensuring lifelong care, financial security and access to the rehabilitation and equipment needed to support long-term independence.
“Life is still very challenging, but with the support put in place, I’m learning to manage things day by day. I’ve never forgotten what Nelsons did for me in making life more bearable.”
Workplace accident – fall from height causing serious orthopaedic injuries and PTSD
After a serious fall at work, we supported a client with a claim against his employer due to his serious orthopaedic injuries and PTSD. We investigated multiple potential defendants to establish liability and secure an early admission. We arranged orthopaedic and psychological rehabilitation to support recovery and return to work.
The claim settled for £500,000, covering loss of earnings, treatment and the long-term impact on our client’s ability to continue in his previous role.
“I can’t thank the team enough – they were professional, supportive and exceeded my expectations from start to finish.”
Road traffic accident – multiple injuries and complex trauma
After a serious road traffic collision involving multiple vehicles, we supported a client with a claim for significant orthopaedic injuries, internal injuries and head trauma. We secured early funding from the Defendant for private rehabilitation and surgery, enabling quicker access to treatment and supporting recovery.
The claim settled for £400,000 after four years, reflecting the severity of injuries, ongoing treatment needs and long-term impact on daily life.
“The support I received meant I could focus on my recovery, knowing the claim was being handled and my future needs were taken into account.”
Workplace accident – fall resulting in spinal injury and paraplegia
After a fall from unsafe scaffolding, we supported a client with a claim against a homeowner in a complex liability dispute. We pursued the claim through a High Court trial, successfully establishing liability despite arguments of contributory negligence.
The claim concluded with an award of £1.43 million (after reduction), reflecting lifelong care needs and the significant impact of the injuries on our client’s independence and quality of life.
Road traffic accident – serious orthopaedic and soft tissue injuries
After suffering serious orthopaedic and soft tissue injuries as a passenger in a taxi involved in a head-on collision, we supported a client with a claim for compensation and rehabilitation. We secured funding for physiotherapy and psychological counselling and arranged support from a case manager who worked with her employer to facilitate a phased return to work.
The claim settled successfully, helping our client access ongoing treatment as needed and continue her recovery following the accident.
"The compensation has enabled me to carry on with life as normal and has given me the option to access further treatment privately, allowing things to be done much quicker and helping my recovery. I would never have got the outcome I did without you and Nelsons.’’
Road traffic accident – serious orthopaedic and brain injuries
After a motorcycle collision caused by another driver pulling out into his path, we supported Dennis with a claim for compensation following a brain injury, multiple fractures, and other serious injuries. We successfully challenged allegations that Dennis was partly responsible for the accident, securing a full admission of liability, and arranged private rehabilitation to support his recovery and return to work.
The claim settled for a substantial six-figure sum, reflecting the impact of the injuries on Dennis’s health, future earning capacity, and long-term financial security.
"The private physiotherapy Nelsons obtained for me made a massive difference to my recovery throughout the claim. The compensation ensured that I did not have to worry about my mortgage and that my family and I will be financially secure in the future."

No Win No Fee Solicitors FAQS
Below, we have answered some frequently asked questions concerning no win no fee solicitors
-
What does no win no fee mean?
It means that if your claim is unsuccessful, you pay your solicitor nothing. If you win, a pre-agreed success fee is deducted from your compensation. It gives you access to expert legal representation without financial risk.
-
Do I need insurance for a no win no fee claim?
We strongly advise taking out After the Event (ATE) insurance, which covers the other side’s legal costs if your claim fails. We will check whether you already have Before the Event (BTE) cover, for example, through a home or motor insurance policy, before recommending a policy.
-
Are there upfront costs?
In most cases, no. We cover disbursements such as expert witness fees and court costs throughout the claim. If successful, these are recovered from the other side or deducted from your compensation.
-
What if I lose my case?
You will not pay our fees. If you have ATE insurance in place, your exposure to the other side’s costs and disbursements will also be covered. We will always advise you on your position before proceedings begin.
-
Can any serious injury claim be taken on a no win no fee basis?
We assess every case individually. Our no win no fee solicitors take on cases where there are reasonable prospects of success. The stronger the evidence, the more straightforward the funding decision. We will give you an honest assessment from the start.
-
How long will my claim take?
Serious injury claims are rarely quick. Complex brain injury can take two to four years or longer, particularly where long-term care needs are still being assessed. We keep you informed throughout and move as efficiently as the evidence allows.
-
What compensation could I receive?
Compensation in serious injury cases covers pain and suffering, loss of earnings (past and future), care costs, medical treatment, home adaptations, and other financial losses. The value depends entirely on the severity and long-term consequences of your injury. We fight for every element you are entitled to.
