Emma joined Nelsons as a Trainee Solicitor, qualifying in 2007 and promoted to Associate in 2012. In 2017, Emma was promoted to Partner.

Emma specialises in commercial law and intellectual property, providing comprehensive and pragmatic advice to businesses across the UK. She also advises on the enforcement of post-termination restrictions, acting for businesses seeking to protect their interests when former employees, directors, agents or business partners breach restrictive covenants. This includes applying for injunctive relief to prevent ongoing breaches and securing undertakings from individuals subject to post-termination restrictions.

Emma’s commercial practice focuses on drafting, reviewing and negotiating the contracts and agreements that underpin her clients’ trading relationships. She regularly advises on supply and distribution arrangements, agency and introducer agreements, franchise agreements, IT and software development contracts, master services and framework agreements, and terms and conditions of business for both B2B and B2C transactions. Emma also has particular experience in intellectual property licences and assignments, data sharing agreements (including advising on international transfers) and confidentiality agreements.

Beyond transactional work, Emma advises businesses on compliance matters, helping them develop and implement robust policies in areas including data protection, anti-bribery and corruption and modern slavery.

Emma also advises clients on trade mark registration, acting for clients in filing and prosecuting applications at the UK Intellectual Property Office, as well as in opposition and cancellation proceedings. Emma also files international trade mark applications.
