New Online Portal Launched To Support Families In Nottingham Maternity Investigation

In a significant step toward transparency and support, Nottinghamshire Police has launched a dedicated online portal for families involved in its ongoing investigation into maternity services at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust (NUH).

This initiative is part of Operation Perth, a large-scale criminal investigation into deaths and serious injuries linked to maternity care at Nottingham City Hospital and Queen’s Medical Centre. The portal, launched on 2 June 2025, is designed to keep affected families informed and supported throughout the complex and sensitive investigation. It offers a centralised hub of information, including updates on the investigation’s progress, details of the offences being examined, and direct contact information for the Operation Perth team.

Operation Perth was initiated following widespread concerns about maternity care at NUH, which has been under scrutiny through the independent Donna Ockenden Review. The police investigation is running in parallel, with the review team providing family folders—detailed assessments of care received by individual families. These are then examined by the police to determine whether any criminal offences, including corporate manslaughter, may have occurred.

To date, over 200 family folders have been received, with an estimated 2,500 expected in total. This highlights the scale and gravity of the investigation, which is one of the largest of its kind in the UK.

Temporary Deputy Chief Constable Rob Griffin, Gold Commander for Operation Perth, emphasised the importance of communication and compassion in the force’s approach. “I am committed to ensuring that affected families are kept informed at every stage of this large and complex investigation,” he said. “This new online portal has been created to provide this, along with full details of our investigation, support available for families, and how to speak with the Operation Perth team at any time”

The portal also features a video update from Detective Superintendent Matt Croome, the Senior Investigating Officer, who outlines the current status of the corporate manslaughter investigation—one of the most serious offences being considered. This video aims to provide clarity and reassurance to families seeking answers and accountability.

The launch of this portal marks a pivotal moment in the investigation, reinforcing the police’s commitment to transparency, empathy, and justice. It ensures that families are not left in the dark and can access vital information and support whenever they need it.

For families affected by the NUH maternity scandal, the portal is more than just a website—it’s a lifeline. It represents a promise that their voices are being heard, their experiences are being taken seriously, and that justice will be pursued with diligence and care.

The Operation Perth online portal is now live and can be accessed via the Nottinghamshire Police website: Operation Perth Online Portal
