has recently reported on an accident which happened back in April 2013. An inflatable slide had been erected at Ripley Cricket Club, but it was not tied down properly, so it broke free. Two children were using the slide at the time, which collided with several other people and some nearby stalls.
The person responsible for the slide has been found guilty of two offences under the Health & Safety at Work Act. With that in mind, it might be possible for any people who were injured as a result of this incident to bring a personal injury claim for compensation.
We have dealt with a number of previous cases involving injuries resulting from temporary fairground-type attractions. Very often, because such things come and go, it is easy for them not to have been installed as securely or safely as an equivalent permanent attraction.
However, attractions like this can be very dangerous, so even though they are mobile, the proprietors should pay very close attention to ensure that they are constructed properly. For example, we have encountered tripping hazards from temporary power supplies and inadequate padding on hard, exposed parts of a ride.
