The Basic Disclosure and Barring Service has launched a new online application form for a basic disclosure certificate which means that from 17th January 2018, the system for obtaining a basic criminal records check in England has changed.
A spokesperson for the Basic Disclosure and Barring Service said that:
“Individuals who require a basic disclosure check for a job in England or Wales can now get their basic disclosure checks directly from DBS rather than Disclosure Scotland, who have previously provided them on our behalf. We have been working hard to ensure a smooth transition to the new system which will cost £25, the same price as Disclosure Scotland. We anticipate it will bring a number of benefits to customers of both organisations including faster turnaround times for certificates. Organisations wishing to carry out multiple basic disclosure checks need to do this via a Responsible Organisation who are already submitting checks through the DBS.”
