Twin Lakes Park in Leicestershire has been prosecuted by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) for injuries caused on one of their rides.
Details of the accident at Twin Lakes Park
The victim, a boy of 8 years old, was left with serious leg injuries when his shoelace became tangled on a bolt whilst riding one of the rides at the theme park.
It was reported that although attempts were made by the theme park owners to cover up the bolt, these and subsequent checks made were inadequate.
Twin Lakes, which is owned by BB & B Leisure Parks pleaded guilty to breaching the Health and Safety at Work Act and fined £13,000, plus ordered to pay £30,000 in costs over the incident.
Similarly, the owner of Alton Towers is to be prosecuted by the HSE following the accident on the Smiler rollercoaster in which five people were injured.
