We are delighted to welcome a new Associate and Solicitor to our expert Wills and Probate team in Nottingham as part of our continued commitment to empowering clients in the city.
Tom Newton qualified as a solicitor in September 2020 and joins us after working at Astle Paterson in Burton-on-Trent both during and after his time at university. He specialises in all areas of Wills and Probate, including administration of estates and Powers of Attorney.
He said:
“I am thrilled to have joined the team at Nelsons – it’s an innovative and ambitious firm that puts its clients at the heart of everything it does. This is incredibly important for all departments but particularly wills and probate as we help and support people with crucial decision-making processes, which is very rewarding.
“While restrictions are easing, we’re continuing to work from home but the support and warm welcome I received from the team when I started was fantastic. I may have only joined a few weeks ago but I already feel like part of the team and have been able to hit the ground running thanks to the expert technology provided by the firm.”
Tom graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2017 before going on to complete his LPC and LLM at the University of Law in Birmingham. He then undertook work experience with Astle Patterson, where he was later given a training contract and qualified as a solicitor.
He added:
“What drew me to wills and probate was the people element, being able to provide peace of mind to those either organising their own personal affairs or the affairs of others and guiding them through the process; it’s incredibly fulfilling. The role also requires an attention to detail that I enjoy. Being able to advise each person, who all have unique circumstances, means that no two days are ever the same.
“I’m looking forward to learning and developing in my new role at Nelsons and relish the opportunity to apply the skills I’ve acquired to more challenging cases as I build my expertise and relationships.”
Jane Sutherland, head of our Private Client team, said:
“We are delighted to welcome Tom to the team. His passion for the profession and eagerness to learn is apparent in everything he does and we’re looking forward to seeing him prosper as he continues his career.”
