We have announced our chosen charities for the coming year.
Each year, we support organisations in Nottingham, Leicester and Derby through various charitable events, with Bloodwise, Alzheimer’s Society and Derbyshire Mind being selected by Nelsons staff for the next 12 months.
Stewart Vandermark, Chief Executive at Nelsons, said:
“We are delighted to be able to support these truly inspirational charities through various fundraising events. It’s important for us at Nelsons to give back to causes which make a real difference to the lives of others.”
Staff in our Leicester office will be raising money for Alzheimer’s Society, which works to support dementia sufferers and their families countrywide. This is the second year the organisation has been the chosen charity for Nelsons staff – last year in Nottingham and now in Leicester.
Danni Hindle, Community Fundraiser for the Alzheimer’s Society in the East Midlands, said:
“We are delighted to be Nelsons’ chosen charity for a second year and we want to thank staff again for uniting against dementia.
“Dementia devastates lives but every pound raised will help us provide vital information and support, improve care, fund research and create lasting change for people affected by the condition.”
Nelsons staff in Derby will be raising money for Derbyshire Mind, which works to provide support to empower people experiencing mental health problems.
Jenny Hotchkiss, Chief Executive at Derbyshire Mind, said:
“We are delighted Nelsons has chosen Derbyshire Mind as the beneficiary of its fundraising activities this year.
“All of the fundraising generated at present is used to support Enjoying Derbyshire, our wellbeing project which aims to support people directly in the community at a range of locations across Derbyshire and Derby City.”
Staff in our Nottingham office will be raising money for Bloodwise, which funds world-class research into all types of blood cancer.
Oliver Morgan, Corporate Partnerships Manager at Bloodwise, said:
“We are so grateful for the support of companies like Nelsons in helping to fund ground-breaking blood cancer research.
“Blood cancer remains the third biggest cause of cancer deaths in the UK, killing more people each year than breast or prostate cancer. Every penny counts in ensuring we can find kinder and more effective treatments that save lives and reduce the harsh side effects currently experienced by patients.”
