Sky-High Support: Nelsons’ Skydive Brings In More Than £3000 For Nominated Charities

Nelsons is celebrating a season of high-flying fundraising and community action, as our employees took to the skies and the streets to support local causes.

Fundraising efforts reached new heights with members of our Medical Negligence team taking part in a series of charity skydives at Langar airfield in April. Legal Director, Carolle White, and Associate, Shrdha Kapoor, both in the Nottingham office, have so far raised £2,790 for baby loss charity, Forever Stars.

In addition, Partner, Matthew Olner, from the Leicester office has raised £1,018 for head injury charity, Headway Leicestershire, Leicester and Rutland through his skydive.

Shrdha Kapoor said:

“It was an experience we’ll never forget. We are incredibly proud to support the work of our nominated charities and the generosity of those who donated and cheered us on the day has been overwhelming.”

The Derby office has been equally active, focusing its efforts on First Steps ED, a charity providing care and support for those affected by eating disorders.

Among a variety of initiatives, in March, a team of runners completed the local 10k, raising £750. Upcoming is a charity concert at Derby Cathedral on June 19 hosted by The Opera Babes, Karen England and Rebecca Knight, and a charity golf day in July aiming to raise even more vital funds.

Choosing to support our nominated charities across two years instead of one, this latest chapter of activity continues to ensure more sustainable, impactful support across our offices.

Danielle Young, Partner in our Medical Negligence team in Leicester, said:

“Working with our charities for a longer period of time has allowed us to create a sustained calendar of initiatives. It’s been great to see so much activity over the past few months, and we are keen to continue providing the ongoing support these charities need to plan for the future.”

Our commitment extends beyond financial donations. One group of volunteers spent a day getting hands on at the Forever Stars Serenity Garden in Highfields Park, and Carolle and Shrdha also shared legal expertise on the charity’s podcast, ‘Moving Forward, Not Moving On,’ helping families navigate the complexities of clinical negligence claims during times of grief.
