Nelsons has been recognised by a Government-backed, industry-supported scheme for our commitment to preventing cyber-attacks and keeping our staff and client’s data safe.
We have achieved the national Cyber Essentials Plus accreditation, which, when fully implemented, can protect a business from low and mid-level attacks, helping to guard against the most common cyber threats.
As an industry and Government-certified scheme, it recognises that we have all the appropriate procedures in place to minimise the risk of cyber-attacks, demonstrating that we are taking necessary measures to protect our own and our client’s, data.
Matthew Riches, Partner and our Director of IT, who was responsible for securing the Cyber Essentials Plus accreditation, said:
“Protecting our employees and clients – and their data – is one of our top priorities, so we are delighted to have been recognised by the Cyber Essentials Plus accreditation for the robust cyber security measures we have implemented.
“Cyber security is a huge threat, and client and staff details are valuable assets to cyber criminals. Over the years, we’ve seen large organisations experience serious issues with regards to personal information getting in the wrong hands – showing how important it is to maintain high levels of cyber security, so we don’t fall victim to these crimes. This accreditation demonstrates our commitment to digital security and protecting against online threats.”
Cyber Essentials Plus identifies fundamental technical security controls that an organisation must have in place to help defend against internet-borne threats. These include:
- Boundary firewalls and internet gateways;
- Secure configuration;
- Access control;
- Malware protection; and
- Patch management.
Chris Miller, Consultant and Solicitor at Nelsons, who specialises in risk and performance management, said:
“The accreditation is seen as a national benchmark for security so we are extremely proud to have received this important acknowledgement of our high standards. We take cyber security seriously and we’re committed to maintaining safe systems whereby data is adequately protected. This means clients and employees can feel safe in the knowledge that their personal details are secure with us.”
