Prestigious Accolade For Nelsons Recognises Firm’s Positive Culture

“Team spirit”, “resilience” and “an enviable reputation” were among the phrases used to describe Nelsons in our most recent Lexcel Audit.

For the 16th year running, we have secured accreditation from The Law Society, with the report for 2021 highlighting how our firm “understands that its people are the lifeblood of the business”.

We were also praised for how our staff members “pulled together” during the continued turbulence of the pandemic and proved their “ability to adapt in times of crisis”.

Upholding our reputation built over nearly four decades, the report noted how we had sought to “blend good old-fashioned values and service with modern technology” while always pushing for ways to enable our teams to “be the best they can possibly be”.

Cathryn Selby, Partner, Solicitor and Director of Professional Standards, said:

“Securing this prestigious mark for another year, as well as the positive comments made in the report, is a special moment for Nelsons.

“Having the Lexcel accreditation is an honour that really recognises the hard work put in by our dedicated and passionate team of professionals. In particular, the way we look after each other and reassure clients that they are in capable hands.

“To achieve a superb assessment is a fantastic achievement and highlights that we continue to adopt and deliver the highest standards in everything we do – so that we can truly empower our clients.”

The Lexcel quality mark has been developed specifically for the legal profession, giving assurance that a practice meets high client care and business management standards. Law firms and in-house legal departments must undergo a rigorous annual application and assessment process, which includes background checks and an on-site visit from an experienced Lexcel assessor.

Our Chief Executive, Stewart Vandermark, said:

“We are delighted to see that the efforts of all our teams have been recognised and that we have retained our culture throughout even the most testing of times.

“Our clients are at the heart of what we do and while empowering them, giving them a voice and steering them through the complex legal issues they face is crucial, it’s just as important that we look after each other too. I am pleased to see that this has been acknowledged by the audit, referencing our resilience and team spirit.”

Other highlights included the continued focus on employee wellbeing through our Happiness Index and mental health first aiders, management structure, learning and development and cyber security.
