There are few moments in life as deeply painful as saying goodbye to a baby too soon. It is more important than ever that we come together to talk about it and raise awareness.
Baby Loss Awareness Week 2025 (BLAW2025) starts on 9 October, and this is the 22nd year that this vitally important campaign has been running.
It is a time to remember, reflect, and really show our support for those who have experienced the heartbreak of losing a baby.
This year’s theme is “Together, We Care”. It is all about showing families that they’re not alone. Whether the loss happened during pregnancy, at birth, or shortly after, this week is a gentle reminder that every story matters and every baby is remembered. This week is about finding time to care for ourselves, each other, and showing our unwavering support.
Why this week matters
Baby loss is something that affects so many families every year, but understandably, it is still something many people find hard to open up about. There are so many important things to take away from this week:
- Breaking the silence around baby loss – let’s talk about it!
- Raising awareness about the impact of baby loss on parents and families
- Highlighting the support and resources available to families who have experienced baby loss
- Pushing for better care and support for bereaved families
It is a time to honour the tiny lives that left us too soon and bring people together in grief, remembrance, and a shared sense of hope.
How can you get involved?
There are many ways you can show your support and get involved in Baby Loss Awareness Week 2025.
- Go pink and blue! Whether with lights, clothing, or wearing a ribbon.
- Join other families across the world for the “Wave of Light” on 15 October by lighting a candle at 7pm in memory of all the babies who lit up the lives of many for such a short time.
- Attending local or virtual events such as remembrance services, charity walks, or creative workshops. Organisations like Forever Stars are putting on a whole host of events to bring people together this week across Nottingham.
- Share your story or support others by joining the conversation online using #BLAW2025.
