Nelsons acted on behalf of a young boy who suffered a nasty cut to his forehead in an accident during a PE lesson at school.
The young boy sustained an injury when was hit by a javelin thrown by another child during a PE lesson at school. This gave him a cut to his forehead which bled initially and it was necessary for the boy to be taken to Accident & Emergency, at the Derbyshire Royal Infirmary where the cut was cleaned and glued. Fortunately, he made a reasonably good recovery although he’s been left with a scar to his forehead for which he will be considering cosmetic treatment once he is older.
A letter of claim was issued to the school
A letter of claim was sent to the school setting out allegations in particular that the javelin should have had a foam cover over the point to protect the children from injury and there were also allegations about the level of supervision. The letter was passed on to the insurers and liability was admitted.
Following a medical report, settlement terms were agreed on behalf of the boy and compensation was awarded.
