Nelsons Recertified For Cyber Security

Nelsons Cyber Security

We are delighted to confirm that we have been recertified by a Government-backed, industry-supported scheme for our commitment to preventing cyber-attacks and keeping data safe.

We have maintained the national Cyber Essentials Plus accreditation, which protects businesses from low and mid-level attacks, helping to guard against the most common cyber threats. This is the second time we have been certified with the accreditation, recognising all of the appropriate procedures that we have been implemented to protect our own, and our clients’, data.

Matthew Riches, Partner and our Director of Digital Innovation and Technology, who was responsible for securing the accreditation, said:

“Protecting our employees and clients, and their data, has always been one of our top priorities. But it’s something that’s been even more important over the past couple of years when we’ve spent the majority of our time working remotely.

“Cyber security continues to be a huge threat to businesses, as client and staff details are valuable assets to cybercriminals, which is why we did everything we could to ensure a smooth and safe transition to home working and will continue to maintain high levels of cyber security as we emerge from the pandemic. We are delighted to have been recognised again by the Cyber Essentials Plus accreditation which demonstrates our commitment to digital security and protecting against online threats.”

In 2020, the percentage of businesses reporting cyber-attacks increased, from 32% the previous year to 46%, which can largely be attributed to by the effects of the pandemic and the number of companies switching to home working. While this has started to settle down again, with 2021’s results showing that 39% of businesses experienced cyber-attacks, it is yet to return to pre-pandemic levels.

Cathryn Selby, Partner and our Director of Professional Standards, said:

“This accreditation is seen as a key national standard for security, and I’m extremely proud that we’ve achieved this acknowledgement again. It’s crucial that we not only empower our clients by steering them through the legal issues they face, but that we provide the assurance that their personal details are secure with us.”
