Nelsons has further strengthened its Derby dispute resolution team through the appointment of two new solicitors.
After undertaking a work placement at Nelsons in early 2012, Oliver has returned to the law firm and specialises in advising on a wide range of private disputes, including contentious probate and property litigation.
Oliver, who qualified as a solicitor in 2014 while working at Banners Jones in Chesterfield, said: “I always wanted to return as Nelsons is renowned for its training and development. When I heard about the job, it seemed like a natural move for me.
“I am really just relishing the opportunity of being able to soak up the knowledge of the Nelsons team who are specialists in this area. I’ve always wanted to focus on a contentious area of law because you get to put into practice what you learnt at university. In litigation, you have to think outside the box to try and come up with a solution – it really keeps you on the ball.”
Lynsey Burke, who qualified as a solicitor in 2009, specialises in commercial disputes, including professional negligence and insolvency matters.
She said: “Commercial litigation covers a wide range of industries so I am always dealing with new and interesting challenges. It is always important to keep in mind that there is more than one way to resolve commercial disputes and a good litigator will be able to tailor their advice to suit specific client needs. I am looking forward to meeting business representatives in the Derby area.
“I’ve recently relocated from Belfast with my family. Nelsons stood out to me as I was excited by the growth opportunities of the firm – it is also forward thinking and has a great reputation.”
Oliver and Lynsey will be working alongside the firm’s six other Derby-based dispute resolution specialists.
Partner Cathryn Selby said: “We are delighted to welcome Oliver and Lynsey to Nelsons. Their expertise has added breadth to the department and I know they will be real assets to our office in Derby.”
Nelsons in Derby and Nottingham has recently been recognised as a top tier firm in commercial litigation in the Legal 500’s prestigious annual list of recommended law firms.
It has also been recognised in the professional negligence, property litigation, construction and contentious trusts and probate categories.
