Dealing with Disciplinary Issues – How to get it right

Dealing with misconduct is something that most managers / HR departments will have to deal with at some point. Poor management or lack of knowledge of disciplinary issues in your workplace can be costly, both in terms of time and money, as well as causing damage to reputation and employee relations. With the barrier of employment tribunal fees no longer present, unfair dismissal claims are on the increase again.
Safeguarding yourself by understanding the basic legal framework on unfair dismissal and ensuring that you follow a fair disciplinary procedure, should empower you to reach the right decision for your business in a disciplinary procedure and avoid any ‘own goals’.
This 3 hour session will cover:
- Dealing with uncooperative / absent employees
- Preparing for and holding an ACAS Code compliant disciplinary meeting
- Common mistakes and how to avoid them
- The commercial and legal consequences of not following procedure
This session will be of interest if you are new to management, looking to update your HR skills or have any responsibility or involvement with disciplining people in your organisation.
The event will be an informative and useful insight in to disciplinary procedures which should enable you to deal with disciplinary issues confidently and appropriately.
Registration will be from 9.15am with the forum starting at 9.30am. We expect to finish around 12.30pm when we hope you will join us for a light lunch.
