Compensation for Fall in Care Home

Mrs C, who was in her 90s and unsteady on her feet, was a resident at a Care Home. In 2013 she suffered an unwitnessed fall in one of the toilets at the Home.

Mrs C was taken to hospital where she was diagnosed with a fractured left hip. She underwent surgery but suffered a pulmonary embolism the following day and very sadly died.

The central concern of the family was that the Care Home did not properly assess, monitor or supervise Mrs C and as a result she was allowed to fall.

The claim against the Care Home was settled for a four-figure sum.

The family were represented by Matthew Olner , a member of our Clinical Negligence team of solicitors at Nelsons.

The family of Mrs C provided the following feedback for the service they received from Nelsons: “I have no doubt that without Nelsons, we would have got nowhere with our claim.”
