Six Figure Compensation for Hospital's Failure to give Claimant Urgent ECG

Mrs H had a background history of hypertension. In 2010 she attended her local emergency department with chest pain radiating to the back and left arm, shortness of breath, sweating and dizziness. Mrs H spent over two hours in the emergency department before collapsing with no pulse. She was given CPR and her pulse was restored. She then had an angioplasty.

X Hospital Trust admitted a failure to give Mrs H an urgent ECG which would have led to angioplasty within 90 minutes of arrival in the emergency department. If this had been done she would have avoided a cardiac arrest.

Mrs H instructed Claire Liptrot and Baishali Majumdar to pursue a claim. This case then settled promptly for a six figure sum in the light of the Trust’s admissions.
