Eye ulcer compensation claim settles for five figure sum

In a case of clinical negligence Mrs I instructed Nelsons in a claim against X Hospital Trust, relating to delayed treatment of a bacterial corneal ulcer.

Delayed treatment resulted in personal injury for the claimant

Mrs I should have been admitted to hospital immediately and started on intensive antibiotics, however she was wrongly advised that she could await a routine appointment after the weekend.  The three day delay caused permanent damage to her eye and she required a corneal graft.  She has developed cataracts and blurred vision.

The compensation claim settled for a five figure sum

Mrs I was represented by clinical negligence specialist solicitors Claire Liptrot and Baishali Majumdar. The Defendant Hospital Trust admitted liability and the claim for clinical negligence was settled for a substantial five figure sum.
