Accident at Work Compensation Claim Settles for £1,200

Following an accident at work Mr N instructed Nelsons to represent him in a claim for compensation against his employer.

Mr N was a factory manager at a building systems firm which makes mobile offices.

A forklift truck driver needed to pick up and move one of the mobile offices but a set of step ladders were in the way. Mr N decided to move the step ladders out of the way but as he began to fold them up, a metal handled Stanley blade fell from the top step at a height of about 8 feet and hit him in the face.

The Stanley blade caused a deep cut which went completely through Mr N’s upper lip into the soft tissue of his gum. Mr N went straight to hospital where the injury was glued.

With severe swelling and bruising both inside and outside his mouth, Mr N found it virtually impossible to shave after the accident and was self conscious about going out. He was also a keen clay pigeon shooter and couldn’t take part in this activity for several weeks as it was impossible for him to hold the gun up to his face.

Mr N was left with a scar nearly one inch long above his upper lip.

Compensation was Awarded for the Accident at Work

Nelsons pursued a claim for personal injury on behalf of Mr N against his employers alleging they were negligent and in breach of their statutory duties to provide a safe workplace and safe and competent co-workers.

Liability was admitted by the employers and Nelsons were able to recover £1,200 in compensation for Mr N.
