
Property disputes and insolvency specialist, Simon Trees has joined the Derby office of law firm Nelsons as a director.
Simon will work alongside director Simon Waterfield to build further the firm's already well respected region-wide Property Disputes Resolution practice. His area of specialism includes providing advice on commercial rent and service charge recovery, repair (dilapidations) claims, the exercise of Break Options, as well as possession proceedings, distraint and forfeiture.
Experienced in all forms of corporate and personal insolvency cases, acting for insolvency practitioners as well as businesses and individuals, he will also develop an Insolvency litigation practice at the firm's Derby office. In particular, he will advise Landlords on the implications of tenant insolvency.

Simon was previously head of litigation services at Else Solicitors, working across the firm's Birmingham and Burton offices. He joined Else as solicitor shortly after the firm's inception in 2004 and was promoted to partner in 2008. Before that, he was employed at the Northampton office of Shoosmiths for almost three years.
Simon, who qualified in September 2000, studied for his law degree and LPC from De Montfort University in Leicester.
